Leong Mun Yee, 31National diver
I’ve been diving for 21 years now. I started at the age of 10 in Ipoh, Perak, then got selected to join the national team for the 1998 Commonwealth Games.
It hasn’t always been easy. When things get tough, I think of my goals and all the good things in life to stay optimistic. I think about why I started in the first place. When I’m doing what I love, and when I achieve my goals and targets, that’s when I’m happiest. Outside of my training I like to spend time with my family, friends and pets, catch a movie, or do crafts or some baking.
Right now I’m fully concentrating on my sport. No pain, no gain! In the future, I would like to be able to contribute something to society through my field.
My advice to my fellow women? If you want to do something, go ahead and do it so you have no regrets. Live life to the fullest.
